CIA-1 unit arrests three after exchange of fire in Kurukshetra
The CIA-1 unit of the Kurukshetra police have arrested three miscreants after a brief exchange of fire in Kurukshetra late last night near Jirbari village on the national highway.
The suspects were identified as Amosh and Sunil, alias Shilla, residents of Punjab, and Shivam, a resident of Karnal.
As per the police spokesman, Amosh and Sunil suffered bullet injuries in their legs in the exchange of fire, and they were rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Parkash District Civil Hospital for treatment.
CIA-1 in-charge Surender Kumar said that on Tuesday night, the teams of CIA-1 and anti-vehicle theft were on checking duties due Independence Day. Meanwhile, a tip-off about the three miscreants carrying arms on a two-wheeler was received. Following the information, the teams reached the service lane of the Kurukshetra-Karnal stretch of the National Highway-44 near Jirbari village.
The suspects were spotted on a two-wheeler, and the police party indicated them to stop, but after seeing the police party, in an attempt to flee, they also opened four rounds of fire on the police party. In response, the police party also opened fire, in which two of them suffered bullet injuries. The injured were taken to the hospital and the third suspect was arrested on the spot.
Four weapons, four magazines, and 18 live cartridges were recovered from their possession. A case has been registered at Thanesar Sadar police station, and further investigation was on.
