Gurugram, February 2
A team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Gurugram, has arrested Rewari Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Inspector Anil Kumar for accepting a bribe of Rs 3.75 lakh.
The accused was caught red-handed after the team led by Inspector Jaipal Singh conducted a raid on a complaint lodged by Sachin Kumar, a resident of Kalaka village.
According to an ACB official, the CIA team had arrested three persons in a case registered at the Rewari Model Town police station. The case’s investigation was being headed by Inspector Anil, who had threatened Sachin to implicate him in a match fixing case, demanding Rs 4 lakh from him. Following this, Sachin had filed a complaint with the ACB and a special team was formed to conduct raids in Rewari on Friday.
The accused was arrested in a residential society, where Sachin had called him to hand over the money. “Rs 3.75 lakh was recovered from the possession of the accused. An FIR under the Anti-Corruption Act has been registered and we are interrogating him,” said Inspector Jaipal.
