CID officials spar over corruption charges, audio clip goes viral

An audio clip of two officials of the CID at Panipat went viral on social media, in which both were levelling corruption charges against each other. An inquiry has been initiated. In the recording, an Inspector is heard calling another employee and asking him to reach the office. The Inspector, while talking to his junior official (later identified as an ASI-rank official), is heard saying “police ka kaam hi paise lena hai” (the job of the police is to take money). The junior official levelled serious corruption allegations against him.

Sources in the CID said the ASI was reportedly used to drinking. The Inspector, CID, asked the local police to initiate action against him on June 10 and to conduct his medical while he was creating ruckus in the office after drinking. But, he fled from the office. He even made a complaint against the Inspector to a DSP-level officer. A senior officer said the ASI was repatriated to the district police. An inquiry has been handed over to a DSP-level officer.
