The English Literary Society of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, organised a movie screening of ‘Laapata Ladies’ — a film that has garnered international acclaim. Around 50 students of English literature attended the screening.

In the post-film discussions, students talked about their observations. Praising the students’ acute insights, Principal Dr Ashima Gakhar elaborated the true meaning of feminism. Dinesh Kumar, head of the department of English, drew a historic picture of the feminist thread in Indian cinema.

Dr Jyotsna Grewal, president of the literary society, presented a formal vote of thanks and co-president Dr Arpita Sawhney served as a moderator in the discussions.
