Citizens to get info about garbage collection vehicles

The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), has launched a Solid Waste Management Monitoring Portal to monitor the vehicle’s location and other information. Residents will get an improved door-to-door garbage collection facility as they no longer have to wait for door-to-door garbage collection vehicles to pick up their garbage.

“The residents of the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri will be able to access the information on the portal,” said Commissioner of the MCYJ, Mahabir Parsad. He said the residents of some colonies had to wait for door-to-door garbage collection vehicles to deliver their garbage.

“People were unsure whether the vehicle would arrive or not. The Urban Local Bodies Directorate has launched a portal called swm.ulbharyana.in.gov.in to address this concern and improve garbage collection facilities. The residents can access this facility by accessing this link online,” said Mahabir Parsad.

He said once the portal opens, the residents must link their mobile number.

“The residents can click on swm.ulbharyana.gov.in (garbage vehicle location option). This will provide information about the vehicle and its location in their colony and ward. This will allow the residents to track where the vehicle is in their colony,” said Mahabir Parsad.

He said the contract for door-to-door garbage collection in the MCYJ area had been awarded for approximately Rs 21 crore.

“At present, garbage collection is being carried out using about 137 vehicles. This number will soon be expanded to 182 vehicles. The household waste is transported via tippers to a secondary point in Gulab Nagar and the solid waste management plant at Kail village, where the waste is segregated according to its category,” said Mahabir Parsad.

He said the MCYJ imposed fines on agencies for improper garbage collection and the said fine was imposed based on the GPS reports.

“This fine is imposed when the number of vehicles engaged in garbage collection is low or when the full staff is not present,” said Mahabir Parsad.
