Gurugram Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr Narhari Singh Banger said the MCG was working towards making Gurugram a clean, beautiful, green and better city for living.
During the Solid Waste Environment Exigency Programme (SWEEP) implemented in Gurugram, the cleanliness teams were working on a war footing not only during the day but also at night and the cleaning system was being regularly improved, he said, while speaking at the Urban Innovation Summit organised in Gurugram on Wednesday.
Banger said there were offices of more than 500 Forbes-listed companies in Gurugram. Along with improving the sanitation system, the MC was also fulfilling the responsibility of providing facilities like streetlights, well-maintained and connected roads, sewer system, drinking water supply etc. Moreover, the MC teams remain present on the spot to manage water drainage during the rainy season with adequate pumps and machinery to drain out water.
He spoke about waste management and said recently an agreement was signed with the NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam to set up a plant to make green coal from waste in Gurugram. The company will set up a plant with a capacity of 1500 tonnes per day.
Giving information about the expansion of health facilities, the Municipal Commissioner said, “The construction work of medical college and hospital in Gurugram is going on at a fast pace. This medical college and hospital under construction in Sector102 will have 10 blocks. These include academic block, hospital, trauma centre, mortuary, hostels, a shopping complex, an ESI block and other infrastructural facilities.” — TNS
