A member of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana (BCPH), Dr Vijender Singh Ahlawat, said Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant had conveyed to a delegation of the council that he would be visiting Punjab and Haryana possibly in January next year.

Advocate Ahlawat, who along with BCPH chairperson Rakesh Gupta, attended the felicitation function organised by the Bar Council of India (BCI) in honour of the CJI last week.

Dr Ahlawat stated that they invited the Chief Justice to visit Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and it was a matter of great pride that he graciously accepted the invitation and assured them that he would visit all the states in the near future.

“CJI Justice Surya Kant also shared memories, especially from the time when he was pursuing his graduation at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak,”said Dr Ahlawat, adding that the CJI was very popular. He said it was a matter of great pride that he belonged to Petwar village in Hisar district.
