Rajasthan Govt's clampdown on mining near Haryana border, Rs 21 cr fine imposed

In a major blow to mining mafia, the Rajasthan Government has initiated action against illegal crushers in Deeg district along the Haryana border.

Undercover teams

  • Two undercover teams raid six sites in the Hasanpura Mafi area near Khairthal Tijara
  • Seize 2 lakh tonnes of illegally mined Cheja stone from the sites
  • In Pahari Deeg, 2.92 lakh tonnes of masonry stone mined illegally

Two special teams of the Rajasthan Mining Department raided Hasanpura Mafi near Tijara and Sujat Ka Khola and seized more than 4.93 lakh tonnes of masonry stone. The department also imposed a penalty of Rs 21.13 crore on the accused.

According to Mines Secretary Anandhi, the action was taken after getting a tip-off. Two undercover teams raided the Hasanpura Mafi area near Khairthal Tijara. The teams found that over 2 lakh tonnes of Cheja stone had been illegally mined from six sites. After the detailed investigation, a penalty of Rs 8.87 crore was imposed.

Similarly, 2.92 lakh tonnes of masonry stone was found to have been illegally mined at seven spots at Sujat in Pahari Deeg. The department has imposed a penalty of Rs 12.26 crore on the offenders.

“We are conducting a state-wide crackdown on illegal mining,” said a senior Rajasthan official.
