Gurugram, July 24

Fourteen-year-old SaiAnsh Taparia, a student of Class IX from Shri Ram School, Gurugram, has reduced the anxiety of caregivers tending to patients with epilepsy. He has invented a cost-effective device — a wristband that can detect epileptic seizures and send an immediate alarm to the caregiver’s mobile phone, thereby enabling immediate care and medical attention to the patient during an attack. This reduces the risk of harm to the patient and alleviates the caregiver’s anxiety.

The innovation includes two components: a wearable wristband containing a microcontroller with a sensor, and a mobile application that receives data from the microcontroller and raises an alarm on the caregiver’s phone.

In recognition of his innovation, Taparia was awarded the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Ignited Mind Children’s Creativity and Innovation Award 2023-24. Only 14 students were selected from 16,570 children across the country for this award, and Taparia was one of the recipients.

He also won the Young Creator League Award from Plaksha University for the same innovation. This invention has been appreciated by Intel Corporation, and Taparia has also been felicitated by the international software giant.
