Cleanliness survey to begin in Sirsa district from June 23

The Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2025, the biggest rural sanitation survey, will begin in the district from June 23. The survey will be conducted by a team from the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS). The team will visit villages, inspect cleanliness, and take feedback from residents. Based on their findings, villages will be ranked for cleanliness.

Dr Subhash Chandra, CEO, District Council, shared this information while addressing sanitation workers at the Panchayat Bhawan today. He said all panchayats must regularly work on maintaining cleanliness in their respective villages and waste management, as the survey would have a direct impact on village rankings. He said the work of sanitation workers would play a big role in this effort.

He said at the block level, BDPOs, and at the village level, gram secretaries, had been appointed as nodal officers for the survey. Out of 1,000 total marks in the survey, 540 would awarded on the basis of the team’s field inspection, Dr Chandra said. The team would inspect 50 houses in each village, focusing on cleanliness, waste disposal and hygiene maintenance, he said. Public places like community toilets, schools, Anganwadi Centres and healthcare centres would also be inspected, he said.

“Inspections will also cover solid waste sheds, biogas plants, compost pits and liquid waste management systems. If a village has a water supply plant or sewage treatment plant (STP), these will be reviewed too. The team will collect feedback from villagers through a mobile app. Residents can also give feedback online by downloading the Swachh Survekshan Gramin 2025 app,” Dr Chandra said. District campaign coordinator Sukhvinder Singh also shared detailed information with sanitation workers to ensure that villages perform well in the upcoming survey.
