The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) distributed cloth bags at a vegetable market and Triple-R-Centres (recycle, reuse and reduce centers) under the Swachhta Pakhwada programme.
On the occasion, old household clothes, broken plastic items and damaged electrical items were collected at the Triple-R-Centres.
Under the Swachhta Pakhwada programme, on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Akhil Pilani, a programme called ‘plastic out-cloth inside’ was organised at the Triple-R-Centre located in Nehru Park, Yamunanagar (ward-8), on Thursday.
The officials of the MCYJ with the help of Nehru Park Association, distributed cloth bags at this Triple-R-Centre to the general public and made them aware of carrying bags while going to the market to buy goods and not to use polythene bags. On the occasion, people deposited plastic items at this Triple-R-Centre.
Similarly, a programme for collection of plastic waste and distribution of cloth bags was held at the Triple-R-Centre, located at Swarn Jayanti Park in Ward16.
Chief Sanitation Inspector Anil Nain distributed cloth bags made by the local women’s self-help group at the centre. An exhibition of products made by women’s self-help groups was also held at the centre.
In the programme, the cloth bags were distributed to the people, who came to buy vegetables at the ITI vegetable market.
At the same time, awareness was spread among the street vendors and people not to use polythene bags.
