CM announces Rs 2,100 salary hike for sanitation workers

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini -- during the state-level Kabir Jayanti celebration in Sirsa -- declared a Rs 2,100 salary increase for sanitation workers. The event took place at the Sirsa grain market and saw the presence of top BJP leaders, including state party president Mohan Lal Badoli and Cabinet ministers.

The Chief Minister also announced new steps to fight drug addiction. A 100-bed de-addiction centre will be built at the upcoming Sarsai Nath Medical College in Sirsa. The existing centre in Dabwali, which currently has 10 beds, will be expanded to 30. Additionally, a new centre will be built near the government hospital in Ellenabad.

Saini said that all promises made in the party manifesto would be fulfilled. He also announced Rs 31 lakh for community development work. In his speech, he praised the spiritual history of Sirsa and mentioned saints like Kabir Das and Guru Nanak Dev.

Without directly naming anyone, Saini criticised political families like the Chautalas saying they only celebrated the anniversaries of their own family members. “Our government honours all great personalities using public funds so that every community benefits,” he added.

During the event, former MP Sunita Duggal requested five acres and Rs 25 crore from the state for building a Sant Kabir Bhawan in Sirsa. Duggal further demanded an IIT for the region, saying it would help reduce drug addiction by encouraging youth towards education.

Strict security measures were in place. District Magistrate Shantanu Sharma banned drones within a 5 km area around the venue and restricted vehicle parking on VIP routes. Some farmer organisations tried to approach the CM with a list of demands but were stopped by the police. This led to protests and slogan-shouting by the farmers.
