CM gives financial aid to 57 under PM’s Muft Bijli Yojana

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said millions of families would benefit from the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, while handing over financial assistance to 57 beneficiaries under this scheme. Within just one month of its launch, eligible residents have already started receiving the benefits. A provision of Rs 510 crore has been allocated for financial assistance under the scheme, said the CM.
He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme on February 13 and on June 17, the state government decided to provide additional financial assistance, on a first-come-first-serve basis, to poor Antyodaya families. Through this scheme, families, with an annual income of less than Rs 1.8 lakh, receive financial assistance upto Rs 60,000 from the Central Government to install a 2-kW grid-connected rooftop solar system. Additionally, the state government provides Rs 50,000 in financial assistance. For applicants with an annual income between Rs 1.8 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, the state government provides an additional grant of Rs 10,000 per kW, upto a maximum of Rs 20,000, in addition to the Central Government’s subsidy.
Power Minister Ranjit Chautala also highlighted the steps taken by the state government for strengthening the power system.
