Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday felicitated Haryana players from the Indian boys’ and girls’ kabaddi teams that won gold medals at the Asian Youth Games-2025 held in Bahrain. The felicitation ceremony was held at his residence, Sant Kabir Kutir.
Congratulating the players, including team captain Ishant Rathee, the Chief Minister said their achievement was a matter of pride for Haryana and the entire nation. “This victory is not merely a sporting success, but a triumph of Haryana’s rural culture, discipline, willpower and fighting spirit,” he said.
Saini praised the contribution of coaches and trainers, calling them the real architects of sporting success. He said the state government had adopted a clear sports vision 11 years ago to connect every child with sports and create playgrounds in every village.
The Chief Minister said Haryana was now recognised as the ‘nursery of sports’ and expressed confidence that the state’s sportspersons would continue to excel at international events, including the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
He also announced that a special provision would be made in the Budget 2026-27 to encourage young sportspersons. Family members of the players were also felicitated on the occasion.
