CM inaugurates 14 projects, lays stone of 8

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today inaugurated 14 projects and laid the foundation stone of eight others worth Rs 143 crore.

The projects inaugurated include canalfront on the banks of the Western Yamuna Canal and the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) near the new bus stand in Karnal.

The Rs 7.28 crore canalfront project had been developed by Karnal Smart City Limited on the pattern of the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad to promote tourism and recreational activities, the CM said. “The place was earlier abandoned, but now it has become a tourist spot,” the CM said, adding that an amusement park, cycle track, open-air gym, walkway, kids play area and other facilities for locals had been set up.

Meanwhile, the IDTR has been set up by the government in collaboration with Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited on 9.25 acres at a cost of Rs 34 crore under the corporate social responsibility to curb road accidents. Accompanied by Honda India Foundation chairman Atsushi Ogata, its trustees Vinay Dhingra and Katsuyuki Ozawa and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India CSR committee member V Sridhar, the CM tried hands on a simulator at the IDTR and said eight more such institutes would be established in two years, for which sites had been earmarked. Three of these institutes are already operational in Kaithal, Rohtak and Bahadurgarh. “The Karnal institute is fourth one in the state. We are working to bring the accident rate to nil by 2050,” Khattar added.

Accompanied by Cabinet Minister Devender Singh Babli, the CM later inaugurated five 33 kV sub-stations at Thari, Chakda, Gonder, Khanpur and Gangar villages. He also inaugurated the four-laning project of Gharaunda-Phurlak road, multipurpose hall at Government PG College in Sector 14, Taraori bus stand, renovation of Prasar Tirth in Behlolpur, Maharishi Ved Vyas Tirth, stadia in Majra Roran and Samanabahu village. Khattar also laid the foundation stone of 2.50 MLD sewage treatment plant in Barsat, renovation of various six ‘tirthas’ and Zila Parishad building.

Congratulates CWG medallists

CM Manohar Lal Khattar chaired a session of Shakti Kendra Pramukh in the KCGMC auditorium and interacted with party workers. Addressing the media, the CM congratulated the medal winners in the Commonwealth Games. “I am hopeful our players will win more medals,” he said.

‘Firms should spend CSR fund’

The CM on Saturday called upon private companies to come forward to spend their corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund on social work. He said the companies could contribute to various projects relating to tree plantation, environmental protection, drug de-addiction and cleanliness etc.
