CM inaugurates Agri-Tourism Centre at HAU
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the Agri-Tourism Centre at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, (HAU) here on Thursday.
The Chief Minister was the chief guest while the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Minister Shyam Singh Rana and Public Works Department and Public Health Engineering Department Minister Ranbir Gangwa were also present on the occasion. While the Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof BR Kamboj presided over the function. Nalwa MLA Randhir Panihar and Hansi MLA Vinod Bhayana were also present on the occasion
The Chief Minister said the main objective of the Agri-Tourism Centre establishment (Phase-2) was to promote agricultural research and technologies with the sense of entertainment as well as knowledge acquisition and to make more and more people aware of environmental conservation to develop pollution-free environment. Through the centre, one will be able to learn Haryanvi culture, ancient agricultural system and agricultural knowledge in an interesting way and students will also get an opportunity to learn about biodiversity, he said.
Kamboj said the university was constantly making efforts to promote agri-tourism. The culture information centre built in the Agri-Tourism Centre had information about Haryanvi men and women's costumes, cuisine, festivals, folk musical instruments, traditional utensils, etc., besides advanced varieties and seeds of all crops. A food court was built in which the general public would be able to taste the traditional Haryanvi cuisine. A tree-house was also built for nature lovers to enjoy the view of nature along with trees, which would be very attractive for the visitors.
The theme park named Apni Sanskriti Apni Virasat gave a glimpse of Haryanvi culture, lifestyle and rural environment. Along with all this, a decorative water pool was also constructed at the Agri-Tourism Centre. A model of Rehat wass made at the centre to show the old irrigation system, which would show how irrigation was being done when there were no modern machines. An ornamental fish aquarium was also kept to give information about goldfish production. Native and foreign plant species were collected in the botanical garden. Special efforts were being made to connect the future generation with Haryanvi culture in Agri-Tourism Centre Phase-2.
