Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today inaugurated a 60-klpd (kilolitre per day) ethanol plant at the Shahabad cooperative sugarmill and said that the plant would strengthen the financial condition of the sugar mill.
The plant has been set up at a cost of Rs 99 crore. The Chief Minister attended the event and inaugurated the plant through the online mode.
Khattar said, “The plant will help the mill in clearing sugarcane dues of farmers in time. It will also provide direct and indirect jobs to youths. With the inauguration, the commissioning process of the plant has started, soon the trial of the plant will be started and by the end of this year, the production will begin.”
Deputy Commissioner Mukul Kumar, on this occasion, said the mill in the previous crushing season had crushed 76.81 lakh quintal sugarcane and produced 8.34 lakh quintal sugar. In the current season, the mill had set the target to crush 80 lakh quintal sugarcane and produce 8.80 lakh quintal sugar.
Khattar also inaugurated a mini-stadium in Shivaji Colony, constructed under Smart City Mission, in Karnal.
