Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini seems to be in a race against time. With the model code of conduct for the Assembly elections expected any time in the next few days, he “hurriedly” laid the foundation stones of 87 projects worth Rs 184 crore and inaugurated 31 other development projects in Pataudi Assembly constituency of Gurugram district on Saturday.

He also made a series of announcements in a public rally organised at Pataudi and declared another Rs 10 crore for development works of this constituency.

Congress worked in commission mode

Those who are demanding accounts of work from us today should see that their government used to work in a commission mode, while our double engine government is working in a mission mode. — Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister

He announced to open a veterinary polyclinic and animal trauma centre at Tajpurnagar village even as the state government or the district administration are yet to find land for this animal healthcare centre.

He announced to open a polytechnic college at Majri village at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore and Rs 2.5 crore were allotted for the improvement of roads maintained by the Public Works Department.

In a series of announcements, he declared to build 33 KV powerhouses each in Siwari village, Jasat village and Daulatabad village at a cost of Rs 20.5 crore; to construct a new Municipal Corporation building in Manesar at a cost of Rs 76 crore and promised to hold a discussion with the NHAI to get national highway status for Hodal-Nuh and Pataudi-Patoda roads.

The election fever seemed to be so high that the CM took no time to announce to fulfil all the demands included in the demand letter presented by local MLA Satyaprakash Jarawata to him.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated 18 rural roads made by the Public Works Department and also laid the foundation stone of Janola to Ghosgarh road; repair of four bridges; rejuvenation of Indori river from Bas Padamka village to Siwari and many other local projects.

To attract the electorate, he recounted the development works done by state government in Pataudi in the past 10 years saying that Rs 121 crore were spent on construction

of roads, bridges, ROB, RUB, development of mandis, etc and Rs 14.36 crore on

the improvement of local roads. An amount of Rs 205 crore was spent on canal based water supply in Farrukhnagar, Pataudi, Heli Mandi areas, CM Saini said.

Addressing a public rally, Saini claimed that the BJP government was working to solve the problems of the people to make their lives easier.

At the same time, he left no words to lash out at the Opposition Congress. He said during Congress rule, politics was based on casteism, regionalism and nepotism. He said, “Those who are demanding accounts of work from us today should see that their government used to work in commission mode, while our double engine government is working in mission mode.”

He also recounted some of the populist moves announced in the past few days — to provide 12 gas cylinders in a year at a cost of Rs 500 per cylinder to the consumers; farmers to be given a bonus of Rs 2,000 per acre in rain-deficit areas and to purchase all crops on MSP.
