CM Saini directs completion of road repairs by June 15
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed officials to complete the repair work of all damaged roads across the state by June 15. He emphasised that a special campaign should be launched to ensure that the tendering and other necessary processes are completed within 15 days, allowing for high-quality repairs before the monsoon season.
The Chief Minister issued these instructions while chairing a review meeting of the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board in Chandigarh today. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana was also present at the meeting.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the condition of roads, Saini stressed that even roads transferred to the Zila Parishads in five districts must be repaired within the stipulated timeframe, adhering to strict quality standards. He warned that any negligence or laxity in the repair process would not be tolerated.
During the meeting, Saini reiterated his Vidhan Sabha budget session announcement that all roads in Haryana would be renovated within six months. He further directed officials to increase the width of roads maintained by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board from 12 feet to 18 feet, considering the increasing traffic volume.
Additionally, he stressed the proper repair and maintenance of roads inside all mandis, ensuring a smooth movement of farmers bringing their produce.
Officials informed that out of 4,313 roads maintained by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, 465 roads are already 18 feet wide. The widening process for 34 more roads is underway, and tenders for 35 additional roads covering 118 km are in progress.
During the review meeting, Saini also issued necessary guidelines for key agricultural infrastructure projects, including Apple Market in Pinjore, upcoming Flower Market in Gurugram, India International Horticulture Market in Gannaur and Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteen.
These projects aim to enhance marketing facilities for farmers and boost agricultural trade in the state.
