Gurugram, July 11

Haryana will soon hold a special felicitation ceremony for sportsmen and Paralympic athletes. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who was in Gurugram today, made the declaration while felicitating cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, member of the T-20 cricket World Cup winning team.

Calling Haryana a ‘state of athletes’, Saini said, “Athletes and sportspersons are our pride and the BJP has ensured we celebrated their achievements with great fervour. Be it monetary awards or jobs, recognition and provision of facilities, Haryana has stood strong with its athletes and will continue to do so. We will soon have a mega-felicitation ceremony,” said Saini.

The Chief Minister congratulated the cricketer on winning the T-20 World Cup and wished him success in his future endeavours on the occasion.

Chahal hails from Jind and has been residing in Gurugram for the past four years. He is the only athlete to have represented India in both chess and cricket. He has competed in the World Youth Chess Championship and plays as a leg-spin bowler for the Indian cricket team.

Meanwhile, the political experts had cited the showdown with protesting wrestlers as one of the key reasons behind the anti-BJP sentiment amongst sportspersons and the party is out for damage control.

The felicitation ceremony announced is being seen as one such attempt. Sources claim that the BJP leaders and public representatives have been asked to create a positive image by reaching out to the local celebrated sportspersons and get them to endorse the government.

City to get 24X7 multi-specialty veterinary hospital

The Animal Care Organisation (TACO), a flagship animal welfare initiative under the Anil Agarwal Foundation, dedicated an amount of Rs 100 crores on Thursday towards bolstering animal welfare in Haryana through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Haryana Government. The MoU was signed in the presence of CM Saini in Gurugram. As part of the MoU, TACO will undertake the upgrading of Government Veterinary Hospital in Gurugram into a 24×7 multi-speciality animal hospital and commence the construction of an animal birth control (ABC) unit, laboratory, pharmacy, training centre and shelter for extremely critical animals in Haryana. The facility is spread over 2 acres in Kadipur, Gurugram. As part of the collaboration, TACO will also deploy an ambulance and an advanced mobile health van to provide emergency care services at the doorstep.
