Addressing the people at a public meeting held in Nalwa, Hisar, today, he said that while the present government has completed development projects worth Rs 1,168 crore in the Nalwa Assembly constituency since 2014, only Rs 377 crore was spent during the Congress government’s 10-year tenure.

The Chief Minister highlighted that a total of 120 announcements were made for Nalwa constituency over the past 11 years. Of these, 97 have been completed and work on seven is progressing rapidly.

He said that 48 of the 217 ‘sankalps’ made to the public before the elections have been fulfilled in just one year, with 90 more expected to be completed by the year-end. “For Hisar district, five major ‘sankalps’ have been made, including the establishment of an industrial cluster, the expansion of Hisar airport as an international cargo hub, the construction of a ceramic park, the creation of a guava processing and packaging plant and a new 800 MW thermal power plant, all of which the state government is rapidly pursuing,” he claimed.

Taking a dig at the Congress, the Chief Minister said that during its 10-year tenure, only Rs 1,155 crore was released to farmers as crop loss compensation. In contrast, the current BJP government has transferred Rs 15,465 crore to farmers’ accounts for crop loss compensation during its tenure.

Saini said that farmers’ welfare remains at the core of the current government’s policies and referred to the decision of MSP of Rs 415 per quintal for sugarcane in the state. He stated that all crops in the state are now being purchased at the minimum support price. He informed that, so far, Rs 1,48,000 crore has been transferred to the accounts of 12 lakh farmers as crop purchase payments.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for three new development projects totalling approximately Rs 22 crore. These include the inauguration of the Welcome Gate at a cost of Rs 4.47 crore, foundation stone for Munshi Prem Chand Library at Rs 17.21 crore and for the road-strengthening project from Mulkan to Syaharwa.

Former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi, while praising the Chief Minister’s working style, alleged that the Congress symbolised corruption and added that former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who is Congress Legislative Party leader, and Rao Narender Singh, the state Congress president, have been facing serious charges of corruption.

Randhir Panihar, Nalwa MLA, recalling his work with former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, said he now sees Bhajan Lal’s style of governance and public service reflected in Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
