CM Saini leads ‘Run for Unity’ in Fatehabad, runs 1.5 km with students, residents
More than 20,000 people join the event, including over 10,000 school students from 76 schools
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off the ‘Run for Unity’ in Fatehabad on Friday to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Chief Minister also ran 1.5 kilometres with participants, as flowers were showered on the crowd during the event.
The run started from the Panchayat Bhawan and passed through Parshuram Chowk, MC Colony Chowk, Lalbatti Chowk, and Ratia Road before concluding at the MM College grounds. More than 20,000 people joined the event, including over 10,000 school students from 76 schools. The Roadways Department arranged buses to transport students to the venue.
Players from the Sports Department, Red Cross volunteers, college students and local residents also participated. However, BJP leaders Bharat Bhushan Middha and Ravindra Baliala were not seen on the main stage with the Chief Minister and instead stood among the public.
Addressing the participants, CM Saini said the run symbolises “national unity, integrity, and discipline.” He added that people across all Haryana districts were joining the movement to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India). “A strong nation is built by disciplined, responsible, and aware citizens,” he said. “This run reminds us of tolerance, teamwork, and collective strength.”
Extending greetings ahead of Haryana Day on November 1, Saini praised the people of Haryana for their hard work and unity. “The spirit of courage, labour, and solidarity in Haryana’s soil is a true tribute to Sardar Patel,” he said.
Reviews projects but offers no new promises
The Chief Minister stayed in Fatehabad district for two days but made no new announcements. He reviewed the progress of major local projects with officials and listened to some public complaints during informal interactions.
After the run, Saini visited former MLA Dura Ram’s residence for breakfast, where he met former MP Kuldeep Bishnoi, MLA Randhir Panihar, and former minister Devender Babli. There was overcrowding. Later, the CM left for Chandigarh by helicopter from the police lines helipad.
