CM Saini questions ‘bapu-beta’ on farmers’ issues
A day after the Union Government opened dialogue with farmers, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini targeted the Congress for letting down the farming community during its regime at the Centre and the state.
In a post on social media platform X, Saini questioned ‘bapu-beta’ — an obvious reference to former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son MP Deepender Hooda — on a variety of issues concerning the farmers.
Haryana has become the first state in the country to give MSP on 24 crops, Saini said. He questioned the Congress on how many crops had the party given MSP during its tenure.
Besides, the BJP government was instrumental in starting an annual support of Rs 6,000 to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi while the Congress failed to take any such ‘pro-farmer’ initiative.
“The BJP government has fully compensated the farmers for the crop loss during last 10 years.” The Congress owes an explanation to people about why the Hooda government awarded a meagre compensation amounting to Rs 2 per acre to farmers for crop loss,” Saini said.
Alleging the “CLU gang” had a field day during Congress’ 10-year regime in Haryana when farmers’ lands were taken away to be gifted to ‘government’s favourites’, Saini said that no such incident had been reported during the BJP regime.
