Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini rubbished Delhi AAP's claim that the ruling BJP in the state is “intentionally” draining industrial waste into the Yamuna that supplies water to the national capital.

Saini also hit out at AAP national convener and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying it has become his habit to level baseless allegations and blame others.

Saini's remarks came after the AAP on Monday accused the BJP in Haryana of “intentionally” draining industrial waste into the Yamuna, with Kejriwal alleging that it is trying to kill people by mixing “poison” in the river.

Kejriwal should apologise to the people of Delhi and Haryana or face legal action for his “baseless” allegations, said CM Saini.

The Haryana CM accused Kejriwal of failing to make proper arrangements for water distribution, which has forced Delhi residents to consume contaminated water.

Targeting Kejriwal for systematically diverting 28 drains into the Yamuna river, Saini claimed that the people of Delhi would teach him a lesson in the upcoming Assembly polls.

He said that Kejriwal has a habit of levelling baseless allegations and then run away.

Saini said he has asked Kejriwal to send his chief secretary and officers to Haryana, specifically to Sonepat, from where Haryana supplies water to Delhi, to inspect the quality of the water being provided.

There is no shortage of water, it is the mismanagement of the Delhi government that has left residents without access to clean water, the Haryana CM added.
