The history department of Dayanand College, Hisar, organised an educational tour to the ancient site in Agroha.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) (ASI) and Department of Archives and Archaeology, Haryana, have undertaken the work of excavation at the site these days. Dr Mahender Singh, head of the history department, said they aimed to provide practical knowledge to students. “The site visit emphasised that history is not based on imagination but constructed through evidence,” he said, adding that such evidence helps understand how bricks were made and used in ancient times.
Archaeologists Dr KA Kabui and Dr Archit Pradhan told the students about the historical significance of the site and excavation process.
Banani Bhatacharya, Deputy Director, Haryana Archaeology Department, said scientific method of excavation helped in identifying ancient walls, house structures and drains used during that era.
Historian Dr Udit Kumar apprised the students with special features and identification of the excavated items.
