Bhiwani: Students of Vaish College, Bhiwani, won six prizes at the division-level competitions organised by the legal literacy cell of Government College, Hisar. Principal Sanjay Goyal and cell coordinator Ratan Singh congratulated the students for their achievement. The college team took part in nine competitions. Principal Goyal said it was important for students to take part in extra-curricular activities. Professor Ratan said participants from 36 colleges of five districts, falling under the Hisar division, took part in this competition. Ankit Kumar of the college got the first place in documentary film and Surabhi Sharma in debate opposition competition. Rishit Kumar came second in poem recitation and Komal Tanwar in debate. Prof Ratan said their team won the second position in Haryanvi skit, while Khushi Jangra bagged the third position in poster-making competition. The winning students will participate in the state-level competitions to be held in Panchkula on July 30.

Admissions begin at Sports varsity

Sonepat: The Sports University of Haryana, Rai, has started admissions. More than 700 athletes applied for various programmes. The closing date for admissions to sports coaching and other disciplines has been extended to July 30 and students can apply through the official website of the university (www.suoh.ac.in). Document verification can be done until July 31 and August 1. Furthermore, the entrance test are scheduled to be held on August 5 and 6.

Orientation at Y’nagar college

Yamunanagar: MLN College, Yamunanagar, organised an orientation programme for first-year humanities students. The programme aimed at familiarising students with the rules of the college and the academic schedule. Additionally, the students were briefed about the important aspects of academics as well as skill and ability enhancement courses. Incharges of various clubs, societies, and cells addressed the students and urged them to actively participate in the activities organised in the college. Officiating Principal Anil Dhawan emphasised the need for becoming responsible citizens. He also congratulated the organisers on the successful organisation of the programme.

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated

Yamunanagar: The NCC Unit of Guru Nanak Khalsa College organised various activities on Kargil Vijay Diwas. They marked the solemn occasion with a heartfelt tribute to the brave martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The cadets paid homage to the martyrs with documentary, highlighting the heroic tales of the Kargil War. Apart from the documentary screening, the cadets organised a rally and cleaned various statues across Yamunanagar. Principal Harinder Singh Kang expressed his admiration for the NCC cadets’ initiative and emphasised the importance of remembering and honouring the nation’s heroes.

Child Scientist Exhibition on anvil

Sirsa: In an effort to foster scientific thinking, curiosity and innovation among youth, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Haryana, under the guidance of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, is organising annual Child Scientist Exhibition at block and district levels across the state. District science specialist Mukesh Kumar announced that this year’s theme for the exhibition was ‘Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future’. The sub-themes include food, health and hygiene, transportation and communication, natural farming, disaster management, mathematical modelling and computational thinking, waste management, and resource management. Students from classes VI to XII of all government and private schools recognised by the Haryana Board/CBSE are eligible to take part in the event. Sirsa District Education Officer Gyan Singh said letters had been sent to all block education officers, instructing them to inform school heads under their jurisdiction to raise awareness about the exhibition and encourage participation. Dr Mukesh said the exhibition provided an excellent platform to students to showcase their talents. Dates and additional details regarding the exhibitions would be provided to the students in due course, he said.
