Colony razed at Kurukshetra

Kurukshetra: A team of the Kurukshetra Town and Country Planning Department carried out a demolition drive at an unauthorised colony that was being developed at Mirzapur village. Department officials said an unauthorised colony was being developed on five acres of land and the owner as well as the property dealer failed to get the required permissions from the department before starting the construction work. 20-year jail for raping minor

Gurugram: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashwini Kumar Mehta on Tuesday sentenced an accused to 20 years of imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old girl in 2021. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 40, 000 on him and ordered the victim to get a compensation of Rs 5 lakh from the fund of the District Legal Services Authority. The convict has been identified as Adarsh Pandey, a native of Uttar Pradesh. OC

Two held for murder

Gurugram: The police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old youth whose body was found near Shikohpur village on July 21. The main accused confessed to the murder, suspecting the victim of having an illicit relationship with his wife. The deceased has been identified as Sanoj, a native of Simri village in Saharsa district, Bihar. In his complaint, the brother of the deceased stated that Sanoj had come to Gurugram in search of a job around seven months ago. On July 20, Sanoj told his wife about some persons abusing and beating him.
