Gurugram Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg has said the civic body was committed to providing basic civic amenities in the industrial areas of the city.

He was presiding over a meeting of civic body officials and representatives of industries at the office of the Progressive Federation of Trade and Industry (PFTI) in Sector 37 of Gurugram on Friday evening.

PFTI chairman Deepak Maini raised various problems faced by stakeholders in industrial areas, including the need to clean the sewer line of Sector 37 before the rains, old sewer lines in Pace City 1 and Pace City 2, old water lines and drainage systems, and problems with streetlights across the area.

They called for a club or a community building to be built at Sector 37 so that industrialists and employees could hold social gatherings.

He claimed that the garbage collection company assigned by the civic body was charging excessive fees. He demanded that the municipal corporation fix garbage collection rates so as to keep a check on excessive charging.

PFTI vice-chairman Dr SP Agarwal talked about overflowing sewers and the condition of footpaths.

The MC Commissioner assured industrialists that their issues would be resolved on priority.

He said all drains and sewers would be cleaned before the monsoons, and work on the big sewer line plan would be started after the monsoons. All other problems would be resolved within a stipulated time limit, he added.

Joint Commissioner Vishal Kumar, Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, Chief Town Planner Sanjeev Mann, DTP Sumit Malik, Executive Engineer Sanjeev Kumar, PFTI director RL Sharma, general secretary Rakesh Batra and Gurugram president PK Gupta were among those present at the event.
