With the cold wave sweeping the region, the Haryana Government has come to the rescue of workers engaged in the construction-related activities.

Taking cognisance of recent orders of the Supreme Court, the Town and Country Planning Department has asked the builders and developers to provide community kitchens, heaters and other warming accessories to the construction workers.

“The developers and project promoters shall provide community kitchens using fuels as permitted in the Natonal Capital Region (NCR) for the workers engaged in the construction and demolition, stone crushers, mining and associated activities and related sectors. Such activities could also be tied up through social organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs),” a communication issued by Amit Khatri, Director, Town and Country Planning, said.

The order noted that considering the difficulties that severe winter season posed to such economically weaker sections (EWS), heaters and other warming accessories might be provided to them in common spaces near their settlements. “The project proponents shall also make provisions for providing hot water to such workers engaged in such sectors through community heating arrangements using fuels as per permitted in the NCR,” Khatri asserted.

Meanwhile, all Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) would ensure heaters for staff providing various services such as security sanitation, horticulture, and other services.
