With the aim to unite the Dalit voters in favour of the BJP in the Assembly elections, the community leaders associated with the saffron party will hold a Dalit Samman Swabhimaan Samaroh in Kurukshetra on August 26.
Though the event is not being held under the party’s banner, Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar, Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal and BJP’s national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Dushyant Kumar Gautam, along with Rajya Sabha MP Krishan Panwar, minister Banwari Lal, Ashok Tanwar, and several leaders from the community are expected to attend the event.
A community leader, on the condition of anonymity, said, “The party organisation has no role in the event and it is being organised by the Manohar Parivar to express gratitude to former Chief Minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. It also aims to strengthen the party’s position in the Assembly elections. There are 17 reserved Assembly seats in the state and apart from the reserved seats, the community has a good influence on a good number of other seats too.”
