A former CM, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, today said that after Punjab, almost the whole of Haryana had also come under the grip of floods and waterlogging. He said there was an urgent need to provide relief and compensation to people.
“Villages, fields, streets, roads, highways and cities are all submerged. Many affected people are pleading for government help. The government should start the process of girdawari and give 100 per cent compensation for the damage to the crops,” he said.
“Also, the damage to houses and shops should be inspected and compensation should be announced soon. The work being done is inadequate,” he said.
In these difficult times, all party leaders and workers were also engaged in relief work. Officials should take cognisance of whatever ground information the Congress workers and leaders send to the administration and resolve it promptly, he said.
Hooda said there was a possibility of more rain in the coming days. “The government should make arrangements for water pumps, motors and generators for drainage in flood-affected areas, and ensure the supply of food and water,” he said.
