Complainant in Elvish Yadav snake video case alleges threat to life

The complainant in the snakes’ video case involving YouTuber Elvish Yadav and singer Rahul Yadav, alias Fazilpuria, has expressed concerns about threats to life and has requested protection.

Saurabh Gupta, an official from People for Animals (PFA), filed an application with the court, stating that he has been receiving threats from wildlife smuggling gangs. The court hearing is scheduled for March 28.

Gupta sent a letter to the court on Tuesday, expressing fear of potential attacks, similar to those experienced by Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and INLD leader Nafe Singh Rathi in the past. He requested a later court date to allow the police to ensure his security.

The status report of the investigation was supposed to be submitted in the court today, and during the hearing, a lawyer appeared on behalf of Elvish Yadav. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Manoj Rana scheduled the next hearing for March 28.

Gupta also forwarded the letter to the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, the District and Sessions Judge of Gurugram and the Gurugram Police Commissioner. In the letter, Saurabh mentioned receiving continuous death threats on social media and being pressured to withdraw the complaint. He also filed a complaint about this with the Nandgram police station in Ghaziabad.

On February 20, the PFA filed a 13-point response in the Gurugram court regarding the use of rare species of snakes in the song video. The controversy arose in 2023 when the song “32 Bore” by Fazilpuria and Elvish Yadav featured snakes, prompting a complaint from PFA.
