A complaint has been made to the Chief Election Commissioner of India against the alleged recruitment of faculty members at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak despite the imposition of the model code of conduct (MCC).

The complainant has urged the EC to restrain the university from conducting interviews for direct recruitment and promotions to teaching posts with effect from September 13.

The complainant, Dr Anil Pannikker, has also sought the cancellation of the interviews held for promotions by the MDU administration on August 16 and 17.

MDU Registrar, Prof Gulshan Lal Taneja, pointed out that as per the guidelines of the ECI, regular recruitment or appointment or promotion through the UPSC, State Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission or any other statutory authority could continue (while the MCC is in force).
