Hisar, July 13

Demanding the rollback of the Haryana stilt plus four floor policy by the state government, the Haryana Sectors Confederation (HSC) today threatened to boycott the BJP government in the next elections if their government failed to listen to their demand.

The confederation held a meeting here in sector 16-17 which was attended by representatives of the Residents Welfare Association from across the state. The confederation’s state convener Yashvir Malik said the government should consider its all demands and take action by July 31. “The confederation will organise a state-level conference in the first week of August and could take a decision to boycott the government in the upcoming Assembly elections,” he said. Malik added that district-level demonstrations would be organised in every district to protest against the government from July 16.

Malik said the policy of Stilt +4 (S+4) was unfair with the residents of the sectors. “The original design of the old residential sectors is such that the facilities like sewerage, electricity, water, parking, public parks etc developed under it cannot bear the load of S+4. With the implementation of S+4, the population density will increase three to four times and the lives of the people will turn into hell.”

Malik demanded that the government must withdraw this policy, “which was being implemented under the pressure of builders and big industrialists”.

Malik further said that today the government was selling residential and commercial places in sectors through bidding processes and this was generating revenue of crores. He also opposed the government’s policy of imposing different tariffs for the water being supplied in the HSVP sectors and other localities in the towns. “Sector residents are being charged four times more rate than colony residents. This is gross injustice to sector residents.
