Conference on environment at Kurukshetra varsity
The Institute of Environmental Studies (IES), Kurukshetra University, organised “National Conference on Environment and Sustainability (NACONES-2025)” on Friday.
The chief guest, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Narsi Ram Bishnoi, said that one should establish harmony and balance with nature. “In the race for development, people have exploited natural resources excessively. The recent fire in the forests of America reflects the imbalance of nature,” he said.
Bishnoi highlighted that in the National Education Policy-2020 and NIRF ranking, an important place has been given to achieving the objective of sustainable development of the environment.
Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said that the conference would provide a platform for insightful deliberation. KU Dean (Academic Affairs) Dinesh Kumar informed that 40 acres of KU had been protected for environmental protection. KU had adopted the environmental protection policy and made plantation by students a mandatory part of the curriculum, he said.
The keynote speaker, Anubha Kaushik of GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi, spoke on the 17 sustainable development goals of UN Agenda-2030. Kaushik said that the Government of India was fulfilling the goal of sustainable development objective through Jal Jeevan Mission, Housing Scheme, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Scheme, Skill Scheme, Mudra Scheme, Digital India and Solar Energy Mission.
