Amid mounting public outrage over the alleged murder of a farmer by real estate company employees in Nizampur village, senior Congress leaders on Monday demanded swift action from the state government. Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan and Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda visited the family of the deceased farmer, Bijender Sandhu, and expressed solidarity with the grieving relatives.

Sandhu was reportedly assaulted on June 2 and later succumbed to injuries. In a major revelation, he had reportedly recorded a statement before his death, yet no arrests have been made to date, Congress leaders said.

“The victim’s family has suffered grave injustice. It is rare to find another case in the country where, despite a dying declaration, no action has been taken,” said Deepender Hooda, criticising the inaction of local authorities.

The Congress demanded a judicial inquiry under the supervision of a sitting high court judge and immediate arrest of all accused in the case.

“The ruling party and administration must not think that the victim’s family is alone. We will not remain silent until justice is served. The Congress stands firmly with the family,” Deepender said.

State Congress president Udai Bhan termed the incident “brutal” and condemned the government's silence and delay. “On June 2, farmer Bijender Sandhu of Nizampur was brutally murdered. Before his death, he gave a statement. Yet, it is shameful that the BJP government has not arrested even a single accused so far,” he said.

Several Congress leaders accompanied the two senior leaders during their visit. The party also indicated it would raise the matter at every possible platform until justice is ensured.
