Shahabad MLA Ramkaran Kala, former Ladwa MLA Mewa Singh and several senior party leaders from Kurukshetra attended the meeting.

The Thanesar MLA said, in Kurukshetra district, only the election of the Thanesar Municipal Council was to be held. Every election had its own issues and the local issues would be playing the key roles in the civic body polls, he added. Corrupt practices were rampant in the council and city was at the bottom of the Swachh Survekshan ranking, he said. People were looted in the name of Property IDs and No Due Certificates (NDC) , and the residents were not happy with the functioning of the municipal council, he added.

“We will raise the issues of corruption, sanitation and poor infrastructure. There is no transparency in the work and residents are forced to make repeated rounds of the MC offices to get the work done. Candidates will be announced soon and all the senior leaders will work for the party on ground,” he said.

The Ambala City MLA said the party would contest strongly and register a victory in the council election. All Congress workers and leaders would support the party’s candidates and ensure to get majority in the House, he added.
