Even as the ruling BJP celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday across the country, the Youth Congress in Karnal city observed the day as the “national unemployment day”. The party leaders and workers staged a protest outside the Mini- Secretariat by frying “pakoras” and highlighting the growing job crisis. They raised slogans against the BJP government.
Youth Congress district president Rajat Lathar said the failed policies of the BJP government had forced the country’s youth to fry ‘pakoras’ instead of securing employment. “In Haryana alone, more than one lakh government posts in education, health, police, and other departments are lying vacant, yet recruitment is not being done. Even the CET results have not been declared, leaving job aspirants in uncertainty,” he said.
Lathar further said PM Modi had promised two crore jobs to the youth every year, but not even once had the promise been fulfilled. “Unemployment is on the rise across the country, including Haryana,” he said, adding that youth are being forced to migrate to countries like Ukraine and Russia in search of work.
“The protest is not just symbolic but a mirror to the government’s policies. Instead of creating jobs, the government has left the youth directionless,” he added.
