Cong MLA Ashok Arora writes to CM, seeks inquiry into ‘cash for job’ charge
Thanesar Congress MLA Ashok Arora has sent a letter to Chief Minister Haryana seeking inquiry into the allegations regarding taking money to provide jobs, levelled against him by former BJP Thanesar MLA.
The MLA has demanded a high-level inquiry and action against the guilty.
BJP leader and former Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha had accused Ashok Arora for taking Rs 21 lakh each from five youths to provide jobs.
Arora said, “The kind of language the former MLA has been using for me is not right. He has been levelling baseless allegations on me regarding taking money to provide jobs. I have sent a letter to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to get the matter investigated from any agency because a person who had been on responsible posts have accused me of taking money. He (the former MLA) must have some evidence to support his claims.”
“The BJP government claims that jobs are given on merit. I challenge the BJP to get the matter investigated from the CBI or any sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and take action against the guilty. I am ready to cooperate with the investigating agencies”, he added.
“In the last Assembly elections, the people of Thanesar voted against him and he should accept the defeat, instead of levelling charges and using wrong language. I will also take legal action against the BJP leader after consulting my lawyers. I have worked for the people of Thanesar. I keep raising public issues with the Chief Minister and will keep meeting him and raising the voice of people of Thanesar in the Haryana Assembly,” the Congress MLA said.
Earlier in the day, while addressing the party workers, Arora accused the BJP government of using pressure tactics against opposition candidates in the Thanesar Municipal Council elections and urged the party workers to work hard for the party candidate.
He also inaugurated the election office of the party’s chairperson candidate for the Thanesar Municipal Council election.
Arora said, “The election of the Thanesar Municipal Council was delayed for around 4 years on the pretexts of Ward bandi and extending the limits of the Municipal Council. Corrupt practices were rampant in the Municipal Council and the residents were looted in the name of NDC. The BJP is seeking votes in the name of forming a triple-engine government, but the fact is that there was already a triple-engine government in Thanesar over the past 10 years, then why Thanesar came last in the state in the Swachh Survekshan. People lost their lives and suffered injuries due to stray animals but nothing was done to provide relief to the residents.”
Speaking to mediapersons, Arora, said “The party workers have been urged to work hard and ensure party’s victory in the elections. The ruling party has been misusing its powers to put pressure on the people and candidates. All political parties have the right to contest the election but such pressure tactics are not good in a democracy. The Congress party will fight to save the democracy. We are confident that our chairperson candidate will win the elections.”
