Congress MLA Raghubir Singh Tewatia from the Prithla Assembly segment raised concerns about the alleged poor civic amenities in villages recently incorporated into the civic limits of Faridabad during the district grievances and redressal committee meeting. The meeting, chaired by Haryana's Industry, Commerce, Environment and Forest Minister Rao Narbir Singh, saw discussions on unresolved complaints and administrative lapses.
Tewatia alleged that the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) had failed to address the issues of seven villages — Malerna, Sahupara, Sotai, Chandawali, Machhghar, Mujeri and Nawada — transferred from the Prithla constituency. “Despite the transfer of funds from the erstwhile panchayats to the MCF, projects like community centres and link roads, including the main road connecting the city to the KGP Expressway, remain incomplete,” he said.
The MLA accused the civic administration of neglecting these villages due to political bias, claiming their grievances related to roads, water, drainage and cleanliness had gone unresolved. He emphasised the poor condition of roads as a major concern for residents.
As officials reported resolving 12 of the 18 complaints discussed in the meeting, Minister Rao Narbir Singh directed the administration to ensure swift resolution of all issues. Two complaints related to health and police departments were assigned to a committee headed by the ADC, while another was referred to the state crime branch for investigation.
Meanwhile, the meeting took an awkward turn when Minister Rao Narbir Singh expressed his displeasure over the absence of the Commissioner of Police (CP). Addressing the Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh, the minister said, “Arey Bhai, main minister hoon, kya CP mujhse bada hai?” He questioned why the CP was absent despite the presence of other senior officials, including the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation.
Rao directed the DC to ensure the CP’s presence in future meetings, leaving the room in silence for several moments.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Mool Chand Sharma (Ballabgarh), Dhanesh Adlakha (Badkhal) and Satish Fagna (NIT), along with other officials.
