Cong MLA raises issues of pending works with Municipal Commissioner
Ambala City MLA Nirmal Singh on Wednesday held a meeting with District Municipal Commissioner Sachin Gupta and raised issues of pending development works in Ambala City.
The Congress MLA also raised the issues of streetlights, stray animals, drains, sanitation and repair of various roads.
During the meeting, the MLA asked the commissioner to get the drains cleaned in February-March, before the rainy season. Nirmal Singh said if the Ambala Municipal Corporation completed the tender process and started the work of cleaning the drains in February, then it was expected that this time there would be no flood-like situation in the residential colonies. The residential colonies where flood-like situation arose, proper arrangements for water drainage should be made.
MLA Nirmal Singh also asked the Commissioner to immediately install 24,000 streetlights in all residential colonies. He said despite purchase of streetlights, these had not been installed by the corporation yet. The lights should be installed in every colony so that people did not face any kind of problem during night.
He also sought a list of 42 illegal colonies and said the process of regularising these colonies were going on for a long time. Since the colonies were illegal the residents were facing difficulties in obtaining no due certificates (NDCs) and registration of properties. He said he would meet CM Nayab Singh Saini to get these colonies regularised. The Commissioner has said that this list will be made available soon.
Later speaking to mediapersons, Congress MLA Nirmal Singh said, “A number of projects in the city have been pending and there are many other issues related to drainage, stray animals, sanitation and repair road and streetlights due to which the residents are facing inconvenience. We have to rise above politics and get the projects completed. The Commissioner has assured that development works will be carried out without any discrimination and the pending works will be completed soon. We are satisfied with the response given by the Commissioner and we will continue to take up the issues of the City constituency.”
Later the MLA held a meeting with party leaders and workers at old grain market and called on them the work towards strengthening the party.
