Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda has warned the BJP-JJP government to withdraw the ban on paddy sowing or face statewide farmers’ stir.

“Farmers of Fatehabad, Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Shahbad have been protesting against the government diktat and we support their stance. Even JJP MLAs are opposing the move,” he said in a statement on Monday.

He said if the government was genuinely worried about the depletion of groundwater, it should implement the suggestions given by LoP Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

“The former CM has been advising the BJP-JJP regime to revive Dadupur-Nalwi water recharge canal, put pressure on the Centre to bring SYL water to Haryana, promote drip irrigation and ensure good prices for alternative crops, but the state leadership is not paying any heed to these suggestions.” — TNS
