These appointments come nearly a year after the party’s loss in the assembly election.
The decision to appoint Hooda and Singh was approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. According to an official communication signed by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, Kharge appreciated the contributions of outgoing PCC president Udai Bhan.
Rao Narender Singh, 61, from Narnaul in Mahendragarh, brings two decades of active politics experience to his new role. He previously served as a Congress MLA, switched to the Haryana Janhit Congress in 2009, and later returned to the Congress party to serve as Health Minister in Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s government.
Singh’s appointment marks a shift in leadership, as he replaces Udai Bhan, a Dalit leader, with Rao being an OBC leader. Hooda’s reappointment as CLP leader solidifies his influence in Haryana state politics.
