The local unit of the Congress on Monday launched its “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” (vote thieves, vacate power) campaign in Rewari, beginning with a protest march led by AICC national secretary and former MLA Chiranjeev Rao.

Party leaders said the drive will continue till October 15, during which Congress workers will visit villages across the district to highlight alleged electoral misconduct by the BJP and “spread awareness among the people.”

Launching a fierce attack on the ruling party, Chiranjeev alleged that the present Haryana Government was formed through “the biggest theft in the history of Indian democracy.” “Calling it theft is an understatement. This was a planned and open robbery,” he charged.

He further echoed Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of BJP victories in several states, claiming Haryana was no exception. “In every state where the BJP has won elections, there has been manipulation and vote theft. The mandate of the people was snatched through undemocratic means,” he asserted.

The Congress leader also flagged alleged irregularities during the last Assembly polls. “Power supply to strong rooms was cut for long periods. Voter turnout figures continued to rise unnaturally even after polling hours — at 5 pm, 7 pm, and even up to 11 pm. On counting day, many EVMs suspiciously showed 99% battery, raising questions about tampering,” Chiranjeev claimed.

Former Minister ML Ranga added that the people of Haryana had “seen through the BJP’s lies and fraud.” “Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, this movement will reach every village and household. The fight for truth will be won,” he said.

Later, Congress leaders paid floral tributes to martyrs at Rao Tularam Chowk on the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas. State Congress spokesperson Ved Prakash Vidrohi, along with Manu Yadav, Manoj Yadav Dakhora and Bharat Singh Harchandpur, also participated in the event.
