Congress MLA inspects waterlogged villages in Jhajjar, tells officials to take action

Taking a serious note of the situation, local MLA and Congress candidate Geeta Bhukkal reached the village and took stock of the situation. She told the DC and officials of the Irrigation Department to ensure that the water is drained at the earliest.

Dharambir, a resident of Goriya village, said improper drainage system was the root cause of waterlogging in the village. “Water accumulates in the village even after mild rain. The situation worsened two days ago when a canal passing through the village developed cracks. Though an official came to the village yesterday, the water is yet to be drained from the village. Waterlogging has also damaged crops here,” he said.

While visiting the village, Bhukkal said flood-like conditions had arisen due to waterlogging. “Not only Goriya, neighbouring Khanpur and Lilodh villages are also facing similar problems. Waterlogging has also resulted in crop losses in the villages and the state government should conduct special girdawari immediately to assess the losses,” said Bhukkal. She claimed that the issue would be resolved permanently as soon as the Congress comes to power.
