Congress protests ED chargesheet against Gandhis in Chandigarh
Congress MPs and MLAs, led by former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, today held a protest in Chandigarh over the filing of an ED case against the party’s top leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
They were arrested near their office in Sector 9, Chandigarh, and taken to Sector 3 police station. After keeping them there for close to an hour, they were released.
Hooda said, “The chargesheet against the Gandhis has been filed after 10 years. There is no case against them and the chargesheet has been filed to settle a political score. ED cannot work on behalf of the BJP.”
He added that the Congress was holding protests across the country. “The BJP's working style has been undemocratic for the last 11 years. They are misusing the power to throttle the voice of the opposition,” said Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda.
State party president Udai Bhan said, “Not even a single penny has been laundered in the case (against the Gandhis). We are not scared, and we will not bend before the BJP.”
Ambala MP Varun Chaudhary and Sonepat MP Satpal Bhramchari were also present during the protest.
