Congress revamp: Party strengthens grassroots, targets leadership roles

The Congress is actively working to strengthen and rebuild its organisation at all levels. According to party observers, regular updates are being shared with senior leader Rahul Gandhi, including during a key meeting held on June 20, where important discussions took place and strategic directions were issued.

As part of this organisational push, Congress observers from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) addressed the media at Congress Bhawan in Sirsa on Wednesday. AICC observer Christopher Tilak, HPCC observer Shamsher Singh Gogi and senior leaders Krishna Satrod and Rajbir Verma provided updates regarding the appointment of a new district president for Sirsa.

The observers said they have been holding grassroots-level discussions with Congress workers across all five Assembly constituencies in Sirsa under the “Chai Pe Charcha” initiative. They will remain in Sirsa until June 27, during which any party worker may meet them or submit an application for the post. A detailed report will be submitted to the party high command, based on which the new district president will be selected.

The observers also took aim at the BJP government, alleging that dissenting voices — including those in the media — are often silenced. “Many original Congress schemes have been renamed and relaunched by the current government and the rights of ordinary citizens are being eroded,” said Shamsher Singh Gogi.

They appealed to all Congress workers in the district to submit their applications promptly so that a capable and committed leader can be chosen. Interviews for the post are currently underway.
