Congress worker strangled with wire of mobile charger by ‘friend’: Police
The local police on Monday claimed that Congress worker Himani Narwal (29) was strangulated to death by her “friend” by using a wire of cell phone charger at her house in Vijay Nagar locality here on February 28.
“The crime followed a scuffle between them over some issue. The accused, identified as Sachin (30) alias Dhillu of Kherpur village (Jhajjar), has been arrested from Mundaka area in Delhi. He is married and has two children. Sachin runs a mobile repair shop in Kanaunda village of Jhajjar district,” KK Rao, Additional Director General of Police, Rohtak Range, told mediapersons here on Monday.
Himani’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase at Sampla town, about 25 km away from the district headquarters, on March 1. She was pursuing LLB from a local college and had been residing alone at her residence in Vijay Nagar here. Her mother Savita and younger brother Jatin live in Delhi.
Sharing the crime story behind the brutal murder, Rao said the accused was in contact with the woman through social media for over a year and also used to visit her home. On February 27, Sachin arrived at her house and stayed there overnight.
“On February 28, Sachin engaged in a scuffle with Himani over some issue. He tied her hands with a ‘dupatta’ and strangled her with the wire of a mobile phone charger. To conceal his crime, he packed her body in her suitcase. During the scuffle, he sustained a few scratches on his hands and also stuffed the blood-stained quilt cover in the same suitcase. Sachin then stole her gold jewellery, mobile, laptop and other valuables before leaving her house," he maintained.
Rao further stated that the accused, after taking Himani’s scooty, rode to his shop in Kanaunda and returned home at around 10 pm to dispose of the body. He then hired an auto-rickshaw and travelled with the suitcase containing the body to Delhi bypass. Then, Sachin boarded a bus to reach Sampla where he dumped the suitcase in the bushes near the bus stand there and fled, he added.
Bijendra Kumar, SHO, Sampla police station, said the accused was produced before a local court which awarded him three-day police remand for further interrogation.
