The conjoined twins were born to a labourer, a resident of the Ghasitpur area who hails from Samastipur in Bihar. The woman already has two children (a boy and a girl).

The girls were born at the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment on Thursday night. They were referred to PGI, Chandigarh, but were sent back to Ambala after a checkup. The family is now worried about the future of the girls.

The father of the twins Chunchun Sada, who works as a labourer, said “I don’t know how my twin daughters will survive. I have been told by the doctors that my daughters can’t be separated because they have the same heart. There is no procedure to separate them. The mother and the children both are doing fine. I don’t know how we will take care of them, but we will do our best to raise them. Medical Officer Dr Suresh Kumar at Civil Hospital, said: “This was the first-ever case that I have seen in my practice. The twins have the same heart and that is the major issue. The children looked a little weak, but they were doing fine.”

Meanwhile, Principal Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantt, Dr Lokveer Singh said: “It is a rare case. Since they have one heart, it is not possible to separate them.”
