Cops bust gang of motorcycle thieves in Sirsa; two arrested

A special police team busted a motorcycle theft gang, arresting two youths accused of stealing motorcycles in Sirsa and Mansa district of Punjab on Thursday.
They have been identified as Jasdeep Singh of Tibbi Hari Singh and Ashu of Sardulewala village of Punjab’s Mansa district. According to DSP Subhash Chand, in light of recent incidents of motorcyle theft in the city, a special team was formed. Led by City police station in-charge SI Satyawan, the team apprehended the duo after receiving a tip-off.
During the interrogation, the arrested admitted to stealing motorcycles from various locations in Sirsa and two bikes from Mansa. Based on leads, the police have recovered numerous motorcyles.
DSP Satyawan said other members of the gang had been identified and would be arrested shortly. The apprehended youth were habitual drug users who allegedly stole motorcyles to support their addiction, he added. Their criminal records are also under investigation. The police will seek custody of the accused in court to conduct further investigation.
